GLEE organizes Keys-wide R4 Fairs during November in celebration of America Recycles Day
The 2nd. Annual R4 fair aka Recycling Fair at the Big Pine Academy, 30220 Overseas Highway, next to the Flea Market is on Saturday November 7 from 9am – 12noon.
This free fair promotes and educates the community on the 4Rs -
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Rot (aka compost!)
- Learn how reducing waste, reusing what we have and using less helps the environment and conserves natural resources
- See green products & services offered by local businesses
- Take part in the Scavenger Hunt and get your green prize
- Creative art crafted from natural materials & recycled items by local artists
- Bid on green products & services in our Silent Auction
- Children can take part in the Kids Activities
- See the Touch Tank and talk with marine experts from FWC & FKNMS
- Browse the Swap Meet booth – you can drop something off that you don’t need
- Talk with plant experts from the Monroe County Extension Service, get a rain barrel, learn about composting
- Free recycling bins will be available from Waste Management
- Check out Coca Cola’s hybrid delivery truck
- Need a composter? – raffle tickets for the Earth Machine composter will be on sale and the winner will be announced by a US1 radio celebrity!

- There will be no e-waste drop off at any of the GLEE R4 Fairs this year. The Cudjoe Key Transfer Station will be accepting electronic waste from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 7, 2009. For more information on what is accepted, please go to the homepage.
