Angelic Moon Holistic Day Spa Becomes GLEE Green Certified
Angelic Moon Holistic Day Spa has received certification through the Green Business Program of Green Living & Energy Education (GLEE). The green wellness day spa, located on Cudjoe Key at MM 23, maintains a small carbon footprint by recycling, using biodegradable products and containers and conserving energy and water where possible.
Owner Donna Spencer says her mission is to provide an earth-friendly "green" environment, for holistic personal care. The only green certified spa in the Keys, Angelic Moon offers services that range from a sunburn facial to an aromatherapy massage.
Natural cleaning products keep the spa fresh and chemical free, while a low-flow toilet and showerhead conserve water. Plans for installing a rain barrel for watering landscaping are also in the works. Spencer uses natural light and energy-saving fluorescent lighting inside. Outside, solar powered security lights add ambiance and draw attention to the business at night. Spencer maintains clean HVAC filters to ensure energy efficiency and good air quality. With energy bills of $25 or less during the winter months, an energy audit of the 300 square-foot- facility is planned for this summer when energy use is at its peak.
Angel Wing, a collection of natural, fair trade, organic products sold at the spa contain all-natural ingredients, using no artificial preservatives or colors. Spread Your Wings products are oil-based and made with organic cold-pressed oils. Angel Food products are actually edible, but only tasty to the skin - not the tongue. Backslide'n Butters are natural and organic moisturizers. Angel Wing products are all organic and come in 100 percent recyclable packaging.
