Wicker HouseGLEE Consumer and Professional Workshops bring you innovative ideas on renewable energy and sustainable living. They show you how to apply green living practices to your life and business. They promote environmental awareness and show you how the positive personal changes you make will have an impact on a local, national and even global level. They make it easy to save money while you save the environment.

On Saturday, our five consumer classrooms offer more than 40 free hourly workshops taught by experts in the fields of alternative fuels, green transportation, healthy living, water- and energy-efficient technologies, water conservation, green lodging, global warming, green parenting, composting, eco-tourism and other sustainable-living topics.

Andrews InnOn Friday, our six professional and CEU workshops teach entrepreneurs, contractors, architects, utilities, and government officials how to provide greener solutions in building and business. By popular demand, Laura Comer of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection returns with a roundtable on Green Lodging. Hoteliers with large and small properties can learn how becoming a certified green lodging can yield cost savings and attract more clients.

Filter SystemWater is our most critical resource in south Florida. Learn how to incorporate technologies and systems that can reduce a building’s water usage by as much as 60 to 70 percent and save additional money on water heating and maintenance. Terry Janssen of EcoTech Water leads the country in water-conservation innovation.

Two all-day workshops focus on solar power. Dan Morris of Vergona-Bowersox Electric examines small-use systems for contractors interested in residential installations. John Nettles of Nettles Electric, one of the first grid-tie PV installers in the county, talks about large-use systems for businesses, schools, and commercial applications.

The building trades—as well as anyone thinking about renovating or new construction—will benefit financially and professionally by learning what’s behind green building in two CEU workshops. The LEED, Green and the Bottom Line course is taught by Brian Dugas, one of the state’s first green living and construction consultants. The 7 Concepts of Green Building course is taught by Karen Childress, the former Green Building Steward for WCI Communities and now representing Trifecta Construction, a leader in sustainable building.

Professional workshops costs range from free to $75. Advance registration is recommended.

New this year is our Exhibitor's Speaker Forum, where you can learn more about the green products and services seen in the Exhibit Hall. GLEE Expo Exhibitors will make presentations and answer questions you might not have time to ask at their booths. It's free. It's informative. And it happens in Room 2118. A new presentation begins every 30 minutes.

(Exhibitors, please sign up in advance on Saturday morning starting at 8:00 a.m. at the GLEE Information Desk. The schedule will be posted outside of the room by 9 a.m.)
