Regional Climate Leadership Summit

Regional Climate Leadership SummitThe Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit was held Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, and hosted by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners in partnership with Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties. Local officials, federal and state legislators, regional transportation, planning and water management authorities, and members of the regional Climate Change/Green Task Forces representing the four counties made up the almost 500 participants. The purpose of this precedent-setting summit was to develop a regional collaboration that will support a coordinated climate change strategy, including the Four County Climate Collaboration Compact. Click here to watch the webcast, which includes County Mayor George Neugent, Green Initiatives Task Force Chair Jedde Regante, as well as Key West Mayor Craig Cates and Environmental Program Manager Annalyse Mannix. You can also see the final press conference of representatives from all four Counties pledging to take the compact back to their Commissions.
