About the Program
The Green Business Program provides businesses in the Florida Keys with a set of online tools to green their operations and improve their bottom line. The three main tools of the DIY program include an Application & Checklist, a Waste Assessment Form and a Baseline Utility Tracker, which guide participants in the various ways to reduce waste, conserve natural resources and demonstrate best environmental practices.
The program tools are available to any business for downloading and use at no charge. A fee is charged for the on-site certification assessment. GLEE Business Members pay a $50 fee for the on-site assessment, and non-members pay $150, which includes a one-year Business Membership. Fees may be paid online or by sending a check to GLEE at P.O. Box 522469, Marathon Shores, FL 33052.
GBP certification, which is valid for 2 years, provides a Green Business Partner designation, as well as other benefits. Certification may be revoked if a later site assessment or circumstances reveal that a business is no longer in compliance with the program requirements or policy standards.
HOW TO BECOME CERTIFIED
• Implement the required standards on the Application & Checklist
• Follow the instructions provided on the Waste Assessment Form
• Use the Baseline Utility Tracker to measure your savings
• Pay the on-site certification assessment fee

• Display the GBP program seal and use the electronic logo to promote your business and inspire participation
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE PROGRAM
Cost Savings – Reducing waste and conserving resources can save you money while reducing your carbon footprint.
Market Exposure – Your Green Business Certification includes a window decal with the Green Business Partner logo and an electronic logo for use on your website and print material. You will also be listed in GLEE’s online Green Business Directory. Businesses who demonstrate green ethics can develop a marketing edge over the competition and gain recognition as a community leader
Green Business Resources – As a certified Green Business Partner you will also have access to the Green Business Forum for peer-to peer networking; and the Green Business Resource webpage, which offers information on rebates, free energy audits and other incentives.
Healthy Work Environment- By implementing the standards of the program you create a more desirable workplace, improving employee morale and productivity.
