3rd Annual Green Living Awards
Featuring local efforts, GLEE’s 3rd Annual Green Living Awards highlights progressive steps towards sustainability and carbon reductions taken by local citizens, businesses and policy makers.
The goals of the Green Living Awards are to promote Keys initiatives, educate about possibilities, encourage social norms, identify local leaders and promote pride and spirit in our islands.
Awards will be bestowed amongst GLEE’s three audiences: Individuals, Businesses, and Policy makers (Agency/Organizations will have a separate award from Local Governments) (read more)
Story about 2009 winners:
A couple who have promoted converting septic systems to cisterns, a B&B that includes organic food as part of its service, and a public utility leading the way with sustainable architecture were among those honored with Green Living Awards by a Keys’ environmental group Saturday.
Florida Keys Green Living & Energy Education (GLEE) staged its 2nd Annual Green Living Awards at the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Gardens on Feb. 21 to honor those who have taken progressive steps towards sustainability and carbon reduction. Winners were selected by the GLEE board, and also by a popular vote conducted via GLEE’s website. (read more)

Florida Keys Green Living & Energy Education (GLEE) announced its 1st Annual Green Living Award winners in a ceremony hosted by Tranquility Bay Beach Resort and sponsored by Marine Bank on Friday, May 9. The awards, which highlight progressive steps toward sustainability taken by local citizens, businesses, organizations and policy makers, were presented on two fronts: One category was selected by “Popular Vote” through public online voting on the www.keysGLEE.com website, and the second was selected by the GLEE’s Board, serving as a “Green Ribbon Committee,” and taking into consideration many factors, including living it, advocating for it, well roundedness, and longevity of green practices.
